DAEWOO Heavy Industries was founded in South Korea in 1967 and by 1998, Fortune Magazine's Global 500 had confirmed DAEWOO as the 18th largest company in the world. Sales during 1997 have reached US$ 71.5 billion, an increase of 9.77% on 1996.
DAEWOO launched production of Lift Trucks in 1968 and in 1983 established a contract with CATERPILLAR for distribution through their worldwide dealer network. By 1989 DAEWOO had exported their 50,000th lift truck and in 1993 they established their own dealer network. At the end of 1998 DAEWOO's export sales have reached 14,500 units and are on target to achieve a 10% market share by the year 2000. DAEWOO currently have 240 lift truck dealers in over 85 countries.
